ABSTRACT:
This white paper analyzes the financial benefits that a Fortune 100 company gained from using Grid MP technology from Univa UD.

While the customer in this case is a pharmaceutical company, this document also addresses benefits that can be gained in other industries by using Grid MP for high-performance computing (HPC). In many industries, research operations are moving from physical environments--labs, the outdoors, design and animation studios-to software that runs on HPC resources. The processing power of grid computing enables this transition from physical to virtual environments and ensures that performance is optimal while costs are kept to a minimum.

In this analysis, financial benefits are calculated in several categories: Hardware costs, operating costs to run hardware, software licensing, routine tasks automated, regulatory compliance and quality/innovation improvements.

This analysis strives to be transparent by making assumptions explicit, in order to allow readers to adapt this study to their specific situations for other use cases or industries.
