ABSTRACT:
Word processing software and laser printers have turned offices into virtual printing presses and tablet PCs have made the pen almost obsolete. Financial services transaction processing is experiencing a similar revolution. Transactions will require less human intervention, produce fewer errors, and create an audit trail for risk management and compliance needs. With these problems solved however, it is time to focus on workflow automation for processing over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives. The term OTC derivative encompasses a large number of products that are often traded between institutional players in the US. This white paper explains how automation of the confirmation process will allow firms dealing in OTC derivatives to not only handle more volume, but to do so with less operational risk.
